We know we seem to talk about it a lot, but we are environmentally conscious here at Jpsil and we like to promote the use of eco-friendly practices for shipping containers. So here are a few more recent uses we have found for our favourite metal box;
Beer Cellar
A UK based Micro Brewery was in need of a place to store it’s beer at a strict 2 degrees Celsius. A shipping container made the perfect low cost, environmentally friendly solution!
Travelodge
The worlds first shipping container hotel was built back in 2008 in Uxbridge, London. It used 88 shipping containers, was 10% cheaper and 25% faster to build than the average hotel. It is a full eight storeys high!
Playground
An award winning playground has been built in Melbourne from shipping containers, helping to highlight the importance of eco-friendly building to children in the local area.
Greenhouse
Urban Farm Units have been cleverly designed by Damien Chivialle, providing space to grow produce in urban areas. A Glass extension is added to the top of the shipping container to produce the greenhouse effect.
If you know of any innovative uses for shipping containers in your local area, give us a call and we will shout about it here!
