Housing Crisis Helped by Shipping Containers

Yet another story has emerged of the humble shipping container coming to the rescue for the homeless in London. There seem to be more and more of these stories emerging in the UK and indeed worldwide.

The latest one to catch our eye is a project in Waltham Forest, North East London. Simple shipping crates have been converted into studio apartments that are available for rent at £75 a week.

They have been named mYpads, and cost the local authority £20,000 each, allowing young people the opportunity to live affordably whilst saving a deposit for longer term housing solutions.

It is believed that the scheme could dave tax payers £25,000 a year by taking people off housing benefit alone.
